On 12 April, the workshop on Regulatory Impact Assessment was held. This event was organized by the EU-funded project “Support to the DCFTA process in the Republic of Moldova” (DCFTA project).
The main objective of this workshop was to bring together people from the main institutional actors that take part in the law making process in order to introduce the DCFTA project’s suggestions to streamline the impact assessment procedure.
Efi Stefopoulou, the international Short-Term Expert of the DCFTA project conducted this workshop. She presented the methodology of impact assessment, the need of public consultations in the RIA process, the possibility of simplification of legislation and the institutional set up for RIA. Ms. Efi Stefopoulou stressed out the importance of the impact assessment as a valuable tool for boosting competitiveness and developing an investment friendly environment in Moldova. To that end, discussions were held during the workshop on how to best make use of the impact assessment requirement, in order to improve Moldovan regulations to the benefit of the economy and the people.
The workshop also tackled issues on DCFTA Transparency Chapter as most of them are part of the regulatory reform agenda and can be addressed through the impact assessment process.
Approximately 20 participants from the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Safety, Ministry of Justice, State Agency on Intellectual Property, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Transport and Roads Infrastructure, The National Energy Regulatory Agency attended this workshop.
