The Association Agreement between the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Moldova, of the other part was signed on June 27, 2014 in Brussels, Belgium. The Agreement was ratified by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on July 2nd, 2014 and by the European Parliament on November 13, 2014.
The Association Agreement establishes a new legal framework for the advancement of relations between Moldova and the EU towards a higher quality level – political association and economic integration with the EU.
The Association Agreement (AA) is based on an innovative and ambitious approach, including the creation of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement – DCFTA.
The Association Agreement includes binding provisions, regulatory norms and broader cooperation arrangements in all sectors of interest.
A special attention is given to the implementation and enforcement of the provisions of the Association Agreement, including setting clear deadlines and establishing institutional and administrative frameworks, thus, creating the prerequisites for an effective implementation.
