On 27 April 2016, the EU-funded project “Support to the DCFTA process in the Republic of Moldova” (DCFTA project) held a workshop titled “Support the implementation of the PanEuroMed Convention in the Republic of Moldova”. Various representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Customs service, European Business Association and Chamber of Commerce attended this event.
The workshop was intended to provide a presentation of the main findings of the DCFTA project on effective implementation of PEM in the Republic of Moldova.
During the workshop, the experts of the DCFTA project, Allen Lanceley and Natalia Vitiuc, explained the background to PEM Convention and the various key challenges which Moldova will face joining the Convention. They also provided an analysis of the current situation, proposing and identifying during the discussions the way forward for efficient implementation of the Convention in the Republic of Moldova.
At the same time, the experts highlighted the economic benefits for Moldova, especially, in terms of opportunities of attracting additional investments in industrial sector and processing raw materials.
