The project on supporting competitive and sustainable growth of enterprises in the tourism sector is open for applications until 30 June 2015 and aims to strengthen competitiveness and sustainability of the European tourism sector by encouraging the expansion of the tourist season by diversifying tourism products and increasing accessibility. This year’s appeal consists of three themes: 1. increasing tourist flows during small / medium seasons for elderly people and youth, 2. EU tourism offer diversification by promoting transnational thematic tourism products, 3. increase tourism accessibility by improving access to services for tourists with special needs.
For this project consortiums of a minimum 5 partners can apply from at least four different eligible countries (when applying for Theme 1 and / or 2) or from at least two different eligible countries (when applying for Theme 3). The consortium must include at least two SMEs in the tourism sector, a national public or regional / local authority and an association or organization in the field of youth and older persons (only for THEME 1).
The project promoting European destinations of excellence EDEN (”European Destinations of Excellence – Promotion of EDEN destinations and awareness raising”) launched the appeal for applications until June 25, 2015.
The project promotes sustainable tourism development models in the European Union and is based on national competitions by which " a tourist destination of excellence" is selected for each participating country. By the selection of destinations, EDEN emphasizes the values, diversity and common features of European tourist destinations.
The national or regional authority responsible for tourism from one of the countries selected as "European Destination of Excellence" (EDEN) may apply to this project in requests for proposals launched during the period 2007-2014.
