The Cabinet of Ministers approved the National Regional Development Strategy for the period 2016-2020. The document comes to ensure a sustainable and balanced development of the regions of Moldova.
The new regional development policy aims to ensure citizens' access to professional public services, fostering sustainable economic growth in the regions and improving the regulatory and legislative framework governing the competitive development of settlements.
Also, the document aims to encourage the development of local businesses, to support entrepreneurial activities in order to reduce development disparities between and within regions and to improve living standards.
The National Regional Development Strategy for the period 2016-2020 has been developed under obligations entered in the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union and the objectives outlined in the National Development Strategy "Moldova 2020".
The document will be submitted to Parliament for examination and adoption.
