The first results of the DCFTA and new opportunities of Moldovan exports presented in the frame of the Diplomatic Economic Club

Diplomatic Economic Club brought together representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova, development partners, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Customs and Bilateral Chambers of Commerce in Moldova.

Main topics discussed by participants were how can the export potential of the Republic of Moldova be exploited and early results in the context of the entry into force of the Association Agreement between Moldova – the European Union on 1 September 2014, under which Moldova benefits from Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.

There were recorded Progresses of the DCFTA implementation at the legislative level, by aligning with European standards, particularly in the areas foreign market access of goods, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary systems improvement, simplification of customs procedures, upgrading the energy sector. These activities are carried out by the Ministry of Economy and other public institutions under the National Action Plan for the implementation of the Association Agreement Moldova - European Union for the period of 2014-2016.

In order to facilitate economic agents’ access to information regarding the DCFTA implementation, the Ministry of Economy will launch on 3 March 2015 the web platform: www.dcfta.md.

Note: Diplomatic Economic Club is a platform for dialogue with representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova, responsible for economic cooperation, launched in 2013. The purpose of this platform is to provide a constant interaction with the diplomatic corps that would enable timely and accurate foreign partners’ information on Moldova's economic policies, taking over best practices in various economic sectors, etc.
