The document comes to transpose EU directives into national legislation concerning cableway installations designed to carry persons and targets carriers using lifts, funiculars and cable cars, chairlifts and ski lifts. Implementation of the regulation will enhance the safe operation of cableway installations, the health and safety of passengers.

The technical regulation also stipulates terms for subsystems and safety components of cable installations placing and operation on the domestic market. Manufacturers must prove that subsystems or safety components which they produce are designed and manufactured in accordance with the basic requirements. They should affix the CE marking (marking proves the fact that the products have been assessed and comply with the European safety, health and environmental protection standards) and to provide instructions for their incorporation into a cable installation.

The Technical Regulation regarding Cableway Installations Designed to Carry Persons Project is subject to public consultation until 13 March 2015. Interested parties may submit comments on the draft to the e-mail: larisa.sloninova@mec.gov.md or to the phone number: +373 22 250-683.
