Over 1500 companies, representatives of government and development partners, over 80 speakers from Moldova and abroad, over 15 business events proved to be an effective platform to promote Republic of Moldova's image on the international arena as a location for investment with a range of amenities and an open economy. These are just some of the results of the third edition of Moldova Business Week, which took place from 4 to 7 October 2016.
"Moldova Business Week aims to provide a communication platform for public, private and diplomatic environement so as to be put into discussion the actions taken so far, as well as local economic trends and challenges. We intend to improve the concept and organize this event every year", stated the Deputy Minister of Economics, Vitalie Iurcu, during the press conference held at the the closing of Moldova Business Week.
"We believe that this platform will become stronger in the next years and will allow the identification of new areas of cooperation, setting and promoting investment projects and focus investors' attention on specific priority sectors of the national economy", said durind the conference the Executive Director of MIEPO, Vitalie Zaharia.
The agenda of the first day of the "Moldova Business Week" was focused on strategic priorities and state plans to create investment opportunities. At the same time, it was discussed about the Moldova’s trade regimes, highlighting the opportunities of DCFTA, CSI, CEFTA and Turkey. The public was also informed about the opportunities of signing the Free Trade Agreements with Arab Republic of Egypt and People's Republic of China.
Also for increasing exports and enhancing the competitiveness of companies, MIEPO organized ProExport Forum, in which were exhibited the latest information on market access, on financing and access to information in order to prepare the Moldovan business community to penetrate new markets or strengthening relationships in existing markets. In this regard, MIEPO signed memorandums of cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, Moldovan Business Association and three Regional Development Agencies.
At the same time, ODIMM presented the opportunities, potential and effectiveness of business incubators which helps to build a friendly and strong business environment. Also, ODIMM officially launched a pilot project dedicated to the development of female entrepreneurship "Women in Business", which aims to provide financial and non-financial support by awarding grants to businesses managed by women.
Partners in organizing the Moldova Business Week 2016 were the Moldovan Business People Association (MBPA), the Organization for SMEs Development (ODIMM), Tourism Agency, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova (CCI), European Business Association ( EBA), American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham), etc.
