Over 120 businesses were informed how to access the European market and which are the results of authorities on the DCFTA implementation for the first months of this year

Informative seminars were held during the period 23 April to 6 May in the frame of "DCFTA-economic information and capacity building" project implemented by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and European Business Association, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac.

During the seminars, the Deputy Minister of Economy presented to economic agents a progress report on the Free Trade Agreement implementation with the EU for the first quarter of this year, emphasizing that early results showed an increase of 6.7% (210.8 mln. USD) of exports to the EU markets compared to the same period of previous years and a slight import growth. Also, Octavian Calmac presented statistics on tariff quotas capitalization degree for both exports and imports from the EU and the main European destinations for local products. Thus, the volume of exports increased to countries such as Romania (+ 18.4%), United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (+ 69.5%), France (+ 25.4%) and the Netherlands (93.3 %).

At the same time, there were also reviewed the actions undertaken in order to achieve the goals of DCFTA, nominating the launch of the Customs Code harmonization process with the Council’s Regulation provisions, launch of the electronic import of goods at all customs posts, strengthening and improving cooperation with EU institutions in the field of standardization and accreditation for accession to the European Accreditation Multilateral Agreement, the adoption of 614 European standards, ratifying law on accession to the COSME Programme 2014-2020.

Also, in this series of seminars businesses have learned about the marketing techniques that can boost trade with European countries, the training being carried out in an interactive format, with direct approaches to problems facing businesses and effective solutions recommendation.
