Main economic problems and weaknesses in the way of European Integration of Moldova

This paper examines the main economic issues to be addressed by the next government of the Republic of Moldova to improve the country's chances of joining the European Union. The discussion focuses on three major issues: the need for reforms in the banking system that captured much of the public attention in the last 12 months; state enterprises and private business which represents the country's economic engines; obscurities in the energy sector leading to inflated prices for consumers.
