On 27 October 2015 the launch of the 18th edition of the publication “Moldovan Economic Trends” of the National Institute for Economic Research (NIER) took place. This event has been financially supported by the EU-funded project “Support to the DCFTA process in the Republic of Moldova” (DCFTA project).
Deputy Minister of Economy, Octavian Calmac, highlighted the importance of the research carried out by the NIER as a key source of information for the Ministry of Economy, public institutions and business associations.
In the context of implementing the DCFTA in the Republic of Moldova, Tina Golfi, team leader of the DCFTA project, emphasized the added value of the publication to the overall monitoring of DCFTA implementation in the country and its impact on economic and social sectors.
During the event a comprehensive summary of the publication was presented. Specific attention was paid to the main socio-economic trends in the first half of this year and the dynamics of main macroeconomic indicators based on the most recent available data.
The event was attended by more than 30 participants representing Moldovan central government entities (i.e. Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Transport and Roads Infrastructure, Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family), the World Bank, the Embassies of Slovakia, Turkey, China, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, as well as economic agents, business associations and mass-media.
